Unknown Origins A Side
Ø bskure returns with attitude, providing a 4 track EP of Various Artists, all united in a quest for the kind of driving grooves which have become a hallmark for the label. Axoon opens proceedings with a deep and spacious rhythm, punctuated with understated percussive elements and alien-esque broodings. Track 2 comes courtesy of Kumasi and is a straight up groove, again nothing obtuse, but tough enough to enslave a number of dance floors. Mordio follows by opening up the space again, huge reverbs drenching some heavyweight attention to the sub, balancing the high quality rattling tops. Label honcho Stephen Montano brings up the rear with some pretty unnerving sounds. Glitchy robotic offerings occupy the loop, experimental in tone but with enough momentum to move a hypnotised dance floor.
